Giants Beat MC In Playoffs; Remain Unbeaten In League; Come to Friday Championship Match 7 pm at Redwood!!

The difference: Kat Gueth's all-around play helped the Giants take an early lead and Ursula Kunhardt's big fifth-set performance ensured they kept it. Gueth had 14 kills, five digs, four blocks and three aces for Redwood (24-5) in a 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 27-29, 15-10 MCAL semifinal victory over Marin Catholic (27-10). Kunhardt had five of her 14 kills in the decisive fifth set, including four consecutively.
From the coach: "This was as good of any playoff match that we may see," Redwood's Katie Pease said. "The MC girls played outstanding defense. Their outside hitters were very hard to stop. My team showed tremendous mental toughness to keep pushing, play together as a team and step up when it really mattered."
Notable: Redwood awaits the winner of Thursday's other semifinal between Drake and Branson in the final, which is scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. Friday at Redwood. Michaela Sinrod had 29 assists for the Giants.
